Sheppards Dell Bridge

Location: Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area

Camera: Linhof Technika IV 4×5

Lens: 75 mm Rodenstock Grandagon-G

Film: Fujichrome Velvia Quickloads

About the Moment: I try to make two photography trips in the Columbia River Gorge NSA every fall. Each time, I stop at this bridge and check it out. Some years, the color of the leaves is poor, or the pavement is too dry – this year was just right.

This bridge is highly photographed and can sometimes be seen in national advertising campaigns – typically for automobiles.

Time of Year: Late October.

Filters, Effects, Digital Manipulations: A polarizing filter was used to reduce glare and saturate color. No digital manipulations were used to produce this photograph.
